BERJAYA Corporation Bhd has received the Education Ministry's approval to set up a international boarding school in Berjaya Hills, Pahang.
Berjaya Corp said yesterday that Berjaya Digital Sdn Bhd, a 70% owned subsidiary of Berjaya Group Bhd, had received the nod to set up Berjaya Hills International School (BHIS).
It said the school would be on a 20.8ha site in Berjaya Hills and work was expected to start this year and be completed in 18 months.
BHIS will offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum to students from year 7 to 13 including the A-Levels.
The school would also offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Dip) as an alternative pre-university programme.
BHIS plans its first intake of students by September 2008.
Berjaya Corp said the project would be funded through borrowings and shareholders' funds, and the school is expected to contribute to its long-term earnings as well as positively impact the overall development of BerjayaHills and Pahang in general.
