Book lovers' paradise opens

BOOK lovers in Mutiara Damansara and nearby neighbourhoods now have more choices with the opening of Borders bookstore at The Curve shopping mall.  

The two-level store, with a floor space of 2,322sq meters, carries more than 200,000 books, music and movie titles. 

Reading genres include general fiction, manga (Japanese comics) and graphic novels, sports, fitness, health and travel.

A wide range of language references, premium cards and gifts by Hallmark as well as Chinese and Malay books are also available.  

Other highlights are computer terminals where customers can search for books and a children's section where a small stage is located.  

The bookstore also houses a Starbucks coffee outlet. 

The bookstore is the second Borders franchise store in Malaysia and is operated by Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd.  

Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd director Francis Lee said the bookstore has a policy of unwrapped books to encourage reading, exploration and fun among customers.  

“This differentiates us from other bookstores. There are also ample seating areas in the bookstore,” said Lee during the bookstore's opening on Dec 1.  

Promotions at the bookstore include a 20% discount for a selected range of 50 bestsellers and new titles. 

Plenty of seats are available for customers to browse before they decide to purchase.

Until December 25, customers will also get a RM15 voucher for every RM100 spent. 

A story-telling session will be held at the children's section from 3pm till 4pm every Sunday.  

There will also be in-store events like book signings by authors, book club discussions and programmes for children.  

The bookstore is located at Lot G16, G16A-C and 114A-D, ground and first floor, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
