The TMC fertility centre is expanding its medical services to other specialist fields at its new flagship hospital Tropicana Medical Centre in Kota Damansara.
TMC corporate affairs executive director Amos Siew said the hospital, with a 180-bed capacity, is expected to be fully operational and by the first half of next year.
"Currently we have 60 beds. We’ll open another 30 beds by year-end and 30 next year," he told reporters today after the launch of the centre by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj. Present was Berjaya Corporation executive chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
TMC managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee, who was also present, said the hospital expects an increase in the number of foreign patients availing its fertility services.
He said foreign patients contributed about 20% of TMC's fertility centres' revenue last year.
"The majority of foreign patients come from Indonesia and Singapore," he said.
"We plan to open a marketing office in Jakarta to provide information on our fertility services," he said.
TMC has fertility centres in Johor, Kepong, Sibu and Kuantan, and plans to open another centre in Puchong in mid-2010, which will offer fertility and obstetrics and gynaecology services.
It also has a boutique clinic in Penang focusing on women, children and fertility services.
