Kanser Payu Dara, Putrajaya Hospital in fight against breast
cancer
Fund
will provide relief and assistance for women; reinforces Starbucks
commitment to wellbeing of local community
KUALA
LUMPUR; December 18, 2002 - Berjaya Coffee Company
(M) Sdn Bhd today presented RM100,000 to Yang Berbahagia Dato’
Seri Endon Mahmood, as contribution towards Tabung Kanser Payu
Dara, Putrajaya Hospital.
Tabung
Kanser Payu Dara, under the patronage of Yang Berbahagia Dato’
Seri Endon, was launched on November 19, 2002, and is specifically
created to help women and their families cope with the effects
and treatment of breast cancer.
“Although
Starbucks is a global brand, it is also very focused and committed
to local events and activities, such as raising funds towards
breast cancer awareness and education. We firmly believe in
supporting and participating in community activities where we
are a neighbour,” said Pedro Man, president, Starbucks
Coffee International.
Francis
Lee, executive director Berjaya Group Bhd says, “Our contributions
towards the Tabung Kanser Payu Dara is a small gesture of sharing
in the goodness of our community.”
He
adds: “We are also very appreciative and thankful to all
our customers and friends, who stand together with us to contribute
in this meaningful gesture to battle against this debilitating
disease.”
Achieving
this amount was a joint effort between the public and Berjaya
Coffee Company, where proceeds of all ticket sales to Lord Of
The Rings II movie were channeled solely toward the Fund.
The
Tabung Kanser Payu Dara unit, which is based at Putrajaya Hospital,
supports women and their families, in terms of medical treatment
and emotional support and counselling while they overcome this
disease.
